SFC Tricia L. Jameson, a Nebraska Army National Guard medic was killed while trying to treat wounded Marines in western Iraq. She had been in Iraq a little less than three weeks when a roadside improvised explosive device exploded near her Humvee ambulance. According to unit officials, Jameson was the vehicle commander of an M997 ambulance that was supporting a convoy mission from Camp Korean Village to the border crossing with Jordan near Trebil. During their mission, they encountered a separate convoy of U.S. Marines that had been attacked and stopped to render aid. Jameson’s unit, the 313th Medical Company, had been in Iraq since November 2004. She was not a regular member of the unit there but was a replacement for another soldier.
